Message For a few years my drivers seat has been making a creaking noise. I just thought it was the seat springs getting old. But then it made a loud pop when I got in so I decided it was time to fix it. This is what I found when I pulled the seat out:

The easy fix would be to re weld it back together. But the only welder I have access to is at work and there is the matter of having to strip all the foam and seat cover off to weld it. So I was looking for a quick and easy fix that I could do at home. I came up with the idea of drilling through the side frames and installing a rod and flat head screws inside the tube of the frame. It was not too difficult and seems to be holding up well.

rod inside the seat tube.

And this is the first time I have removed my seat so I got a chance to clean up under the seat. I found some glass, money, trash, dirt, but surprisingly no french fries.
